The key to successful figure drawing is to capture the expressive essence of the form through attentive mark-making and convincing structure. This three-week session will introduce a gesture approach to the figure and will include basic skeletal anatomy to assist in achieving proper proportions of the human form. Basic measuring techniques will be reviewed as they apply to the figure.

BASIC OIL PAINTING with JULIE SULZEN

Students will explore the fundamentals of oil painting with an introduction to materials and by practicing skills of observation, methods of drawing, explorations of color theory, and techniques of brushwork. Utilizing carefully designed still life arrangements, fundamentals of painting such as light, shape, value, and edges will be covered. Demonstrations and discussions are designed to encourage individual progress as well as general painting guidance.
