The key to successful figure drawing is to capture the expressive essence of the form through attentive mark-making and convincing structure. Utilizing a live model, this course will begin with a gesture approach to the figure and will include basic skeletal anatomy to assist in achieving proper proportions of the human form. Longer poses will allow investigation in both line and tone.
Basic measuring techniques will be reviewed as they apply to the figure. Brief critiques will be held to encourage constructive feedback from both the class members and the instructor.
Students who wish to utilize the figure as a starting point for personal interpretation will be encouraged to do so.
This class can be repeated.
