Instructor Spotlight

Read a recent interview with Jesse about his art practice in The Culture

JESSE HOWARD has been teaching all levels of drawing at the Oak Park Art League for 15 years this January! Congrats on this milestone!

The Oak Park Art League is so fortunate to have Jesse anchoring our essential drawing classes, focused on critical seeing, rendering and developing drawing style. Jesse has cultivated a loyal following of students, from all walks of life, that find their drawing and rendering skills sharpened by taking his class, often repeatedly. Students keep coming back because they appreciate Jesse’s direct instruction style, involving in-class critiques and homework assignments. This cohort of students have exhibited their work in student showcases several times.

Believe it or not Jesse wasn’t sure about teaching back in 2010 when then Executive Director Faith Humphrey Hill advised that Jesse would make a great instructor and was very encouraging! We have Faith to thank for this beginning!

Thank you Jesse for making OPAL your home base for teaching. Many individual artists have grown and been motivated and inspired by your instruction.
