ARTIST Talks

Hello artists and art fans!
OPAL has hosted many artist talks, both by artists and by individuals in related fields of interest to the visual art community. Talks are a great way to share information with our interested member body with the goal of improving our individual art practices.
Topics have included writing an Artist Statement, best practices for artists on social media, or a specific artist sharing about their work or technique. Talks are a great learning opportunity and another chance to connect at OPAL.

We are scheduling talks for our 2025 calendar and accepting proposals for individual artists and businesses to present a talk at OPAL. Ideally proposed topics would somehow relate to themed exhibitions happening in the gallery, timely info sharing topics like AI in the art world or timeless subjects we can find value in at anytime, like estate planning for artists.
Contact the OPAL office with a brief proposal and several dates in mind for scheduling or just share a topic you’d like to hear a talk on.

See our upcoming talks below and please RSVP

OPAL is thrilled to have Master Printer Juan Carlos Hernandez of Print Innovation Lab address our incredible community with a talk about Earth friendly art prints for artists. Juan Carlos will speak about the environmental impact of traditional inkjet printing materials and practices, sustainable alternatives for RC papers, Cotton, Alternative Fibers, canvas, etc, how to create art reproductions (e.g., giclee prints) using sustainable materials and give practical tips for artists to reduce waste and align their work with eco-conscious values.
Juan Carlos will bring samples of sustainable papers and materials and leave time for Q&A!
