Carl R. Krafft ~ An Artist’s Life
Earlier in 2024 I was fortunate to connect with Ms. Diane Kester, the granddaughter of OPAL’s founder, Carl R Krafft. Her mother, Lal (Gladys Krafft) Davies wrote a book about her father and his life as an artist, having had firsthand experiences in the studio and acting in many capacities as Mr. Krafft’s assistant. The book, Carl R. Krafft An Artist’s Life, was published in 1982 and Ms. Kester had hoped to create a website for the book and her grandfather’s legacy.
She happened to have some copies of the book and offered to donate them to OPAL as a way to spread the story of her grandfather and his artistic journey.
So I undertook creating a web presence for the book and the story she shared, here on OPAL’s website. You can find it here, and we have a limited number of copies available to purchase in our shop.
If you’ve been curious about OPAL’s founder and details of his life as an artist, I encourage you to check out the webspace and buy a copy of the book. OPAL will reserve a few copies of the book for its archive.
