Spend a few hours learning the basics behind using soft pastels as a way to create pastel paintings with detail and depth. Using the medium of soft pastel to achieve an understanding of the philosophy of nature as a whole and integral entity of ourselves, Mike Barret Kolasinski is a visual activist for nature.

MATERIAL LIST:

  • Bring any soft pastels you have on hand. If you are purchasing pastels for the first time, look for a small set of 12 NuPastels and a larger set of pastels, such as Blick Pastels.

  • A few sheets of sanded pastel paper such as these and a variety pack of Canson pastel papers, in 9” x 12” size.

  • Bring photos or reference material from which you would like to work.

  • If you have other pastel materials, please bring them along.
