Mixed Media Oracle Card Workshop

  • Oak Park Art League 720 Chicago Avenue Oak Park, IL, 60302 United States (map)

Whether you have experience using oracle cards or not, this workshop will be a four hour exploration in letting your intuition take the lead in creating twelve (or more or less if you choose) small artworks that channel your your personal inspirations, reflections, writings, images, symbols, and wishes.

This is based on an unexpected part of a course I took a few years ago, and though I would hardly consider myself an expert in working with oracle cards, the lesson and the artwork that came out of it really stuck with me. Since 2020 has been so unsettling and dramatic and we’re nearing the end of the year, this seems like a good time to share the experience with other people. Oracle cards are entirely yours to interpret and use however you like - there is no formal structure or specific meaning assigned to them, but they are meant to be uplifting and inspiring. We all could use that energy right about now.

I will provide the cards and a box for you to keep them in, and some supplemental materials for everyone to work with, including imagery for collage.

There will be basic lessons in layering paint, intuitive mark making, collage and quick image transfer.
