Introduction to Alcohol Ink Painting

  • Oak Park Art League 720 Chicago Avenue Oak Park, IL, 60302 United States (map)

In this one day session, students will explore the creative and abstract potential of alcohol inks.  These inks are incredibly vibrant and when used with blending mediums on yupo paper they flow quickly and unpredictably, allowing for compositions with beautiful blooms and gorgeous gradients and color combinations.  We will play between enjoying the spontaneous nature of these paints and making more deliberate choices to direct the composition, palette and depth of field.

Students have the option to bring in landscape photos to use as references, which can be helpful both as a jumping off point and as a touchstone when making decisions about the direction, energy and feel of the piece.
