STATEMENT
“Pastel has given me an immediacy with which to connect with the magic moments I come across in my travels.  I am inspired and challenged not just to capture an image, but to absorb and interpret the scene through my own experiences and senses- to take the viewer on a journey of rich pigments, heightened hues, the play of light and shadow, and the movement of shapes, lines, and emotions.”

BIO
Melanie Minnix, originally from Ohio, is a long-time resident of Oak Park, IL. She has exhibited in numerous exhibitions both locally and nationally. Currently working predominately in soft pastels, she is a member of the American Impressionist Society, Chicago Pastel Painters, Great Lakes Pastel Society, Chicago Alliance of Visual Artists, Oak Park Art League, and the Oak Park Arts Council.   Inquiries: Contact Minnixm@sbcglobal.net
