STATEMENT

I am interested in the magic, mystery, and poetry of life and photographic images. In the field, I photograph the beauty, wonder, and surreality of daily life. These photographs are my starting point. They suggest ideas, narratives, and sensibilities that inspire me to embellish and enhance my captured “realities.” In the studio, I direct and photograph more controlled images. I sometimes work with models, directing them in dance-like and expressive poses and gestures. I am fascinated with fabric and how it moves, drapes, and transforms into figures and entities that dance, float, and suggest enigmatic happenings. I also play with materials that reflect, refract, and diffuse light, creating ethereal effects for the camera to capture. I combine all these photographs in numerous ways, from digital composition to cut paper collage and assemblage, creating lyrical and mystical dreamscapes and beings to spark the viewer's imagination.
